Re: Watching rugby in North America

October 13, 2005

A reader [writes me asking questions] about watching the games in North America. There may be other options, but I usually watch on Fox Sports World Canada. The games are also available in the U.S. on the Soccer Channel. The games are typically tape-delayed and a few days old, but re-broadcast several times. If you must watch them live, they can usually be seen online at mediazone for a small fee. They are also archived for viewing at your own convenience. I have seen a couple games this way, and although it's not ideal, it's pretty damn good.

[Update] I just checked the mediazone Rugby Channel website. They have a free preview button where you can view some sample archive footage from a recent All Black-Springbok test match. (The button is at the top of the page on the right side.) Take a look at the quality and decide for yourself. I am more than impressed, as I say, it's not ideal, but you can see everything. Since you presumably sit closer to your PC monitors than you do your television sets, this shouldn't be a problem. Just check it out and decide for yourself!
