Springboks steal one from the Wallabies
August 22, 2005
By the time you read this you should know full well the Springboks stole a close 22-19 win from the Wallabies in Perth on Saturday. Sensational three-quarter Bryan Habana pinched a pair of scintillating length-of-the-field tries at the beginning and end of the game to seal the deal.
Of course, you would know all about the result by clicking on the links in the box at the upper-right corner of the screen. Always use those links as your resource for the latest rugby news and commentaries.
My only available option to catch the test match live was listening to it broadcast live on Radio Australia's international short-wave service. I listened on 9580 kHz up here in eastern North America, the test match game in strong, as it did a week earlier against New Zealand. Tip o' the hat to Radio Australia, they have not previously broadcast international rugby, that used to be the domain of Radio New Zealand International, but curiously enough, since their broadcasts of the Lions series, rugby has gone silent on RNZI.
In any event, I will be watching the test match for the first time when it is telecast on tape-delay here on Tuesday evening, and will run down a thorough review, and a preview of this coming Saturday's Tri-Nations decider between the Boks and the All Blacks at Dunedin. New Zealand will have to win both their home tests to overhaul the South Africans, but this next one is the big one. If the Boks win, it's all over. If the All Blacks win, it's nail-biting time.
Stay tuned...
