Umaga retirement-rumour update

November 26, 2005

O-kay, All Blacks just beat Scotland 29-10 in a very tough contest with the home side showing grit and determination, running the ball and counter-attacking from their own goalline and making a Super 12 contest out of an international test match! Big props to the All Blacks on a Grand Slam and a huge season. More on that later...!

In the meantime, there has been mounting speculation prior to the test that All Black captain Tana Umaga was prepared to retire.

But Umaga was just interviewed post-match and asked about the rumours. He would not confirm. Umaga said he wanted to "take some time off - have a holiday - enjoy the break, then make a decision - it's been a really tough year, a long year - " says he is "knackered, not only physically but mentally - is looking forward to a break - not looking forward to start of training for Super 14."

So no confirmation yet...
