USRFF to auction Wallaby test jersey
March 13, 2006
I almost forgot to post this, so don't delay!!
Executive Director of the United States Rugby Football Foundation Brian Vizard is auctioning off a game-worn Wallaby test jersey and donating the proceeds to the foundation.
This is not the first time Vizard has auctioned off personal possessions with tremendous sentimental value for a good cause.
This time Vizard is auctioning a test match jersey once worn by one of Australia's all-time great forwards, Tim Gavin -- and it's one of the good-looking Wallaby test jerseys too, not one of the Okker-Shockers from the same era.
Tim Gavin held the record for most caps for a Wallaby #8 with 44 and played on some of the great Australian teams in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
USRFF Executive Director Brian Vizard played in 22 test matches for the United States from 1986-1991 including tests against England, Australia, France, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Japan, Canada, Romania and Italy. Once a month for the next year, a jersey from his personal collection will be put up for auction with all proceeds directed for youth and high school rugby.
This Australia jersey was worn by #8 Tim Gavin in a match against the United States in Brisbane, Australia on July 8, 1990 and can be found on eBay, item #8777076217.
