IRB/Emirates Airline photo of the year named

The IRB has announced that a photograph by Morgan Treacy of the INPHO agency in Ireland has won the inaugural IRB/Emirates Airline Rugby Photograph of the Year Award. The Announcement was made at the launch of the IRB World Rugby Yearbook 2007 in London.

The winning picture, titled ‘mud, glorious mud’ was taken during an AIB Division One league match between Clontarf and Shannon in Dublin and depicts Clontarf’s James Purue caked in mud drawing in breath following the loss of a lineout.

The IRB/Emirates Airline Rugby Photograph of the Year competition is open to all photographers, professional or amateur, and the subject matter can be from any level of the Game – from mini rugby to the Rugby World Cup.
